24.09.2009, 7th International Symposium in Austria
September 2-4,
2009, the 7th International Symposium was held in the Institute for Hydraulic
and Water Resources Engineering of BOKU University in Vienna, Austria.
About 28 countries, including, the Institute
of Water Management
participated in the symposium.

On the 2nd day
of September, the Director of the Institute, Prof. Givi Gavardashvili gave a
presentation about the surveys of Vetiver antierosion plants. The paper
included the results of surveys implemented on vetiver plants in Georgia and Israel, 2004-2005.
On the 3rd day of
September, 2009, the meeting was held with the Director of BOKU University,
Willibald Loiskandl. There were considered possible collaboration between the
Institutes of Georgia and Austria
and its perspectives.

International Symposium in the Institute
September 23-28,
2009, the International Symposium on “Floods and Modern Methods of Control
Measures”, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Georgian Water Management
Institute was held under the aegis of UNO



September 25-29, 2009, the Chief Assistant
of the Laboratory of Environmental Protection, Tamriko Supatashvili, travelled
to Brussels (Belgium) for a meeting as an
implementer of Euro Grant “the Black Sea Scientific Network” for a period of 4
days.
